ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES OPENER TO TORONTO BLUE JAYS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Toronto Blue Jays 6-2 on Tuesday evening in the opener of a two-game interleague set at SunTrust Park.  This marked the second straight loss for the Braves, who have now lost six of their last seven games.

Toronto secured the lead with five runs runs off the Atlanta bullpen in the top of the eighth inning.  Russell Martin led the charge with the tie-breaking RBI single.

AJ Minter was tagged with the loss in relief for the Braves.  Marcus Stroman was the winning pitcher for the Blue Jays.

The Braves have fallen a game behind the Philadephia Phillies in the race for the top spot of the National League East.  They hope to even their series with the Blue Jays as the teams meet in their series finale tonight at 7:35 pm.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410; air time is 6:20 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves had Tuesday off and will get back into action this evening at Greenville, SC with the first of three games against the Drive.  First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
