ATLANTA BRAVES DEFEATED BY SAN DIEGO PADRES IN SERIES OPENER AT ‘THE TED’

Written by Matt Davis on August 14, 2012. Posted in Sports

Rain delayed the Atlanta Braves’ series opener with the San Diego Padres at by nearly a half an hour last night, and the Padres ended up raining on the Braves’ parade as the Padres beat the Braves 4-1 at Turner Field.

The Braves picked up their lone run of the evening in the bottom of the eighth on a triple from Martin Prado that scored Michael Bourn.  Mike Minor took the loss; he pitched six innings, giving up nine hits and three runs.

The Braves will face the Padres again tonight at 7:10 pm at Turner Field.  The game will be broadcast on the AM 1410 WLAQ, Rome’s original home for Atlanta Braves baseball.  Air time for the pre-game show is 5:55 pm from the Atlanta Braves radio network.

The Braves are now five and a half games behind the Washington Nationals in the National League East (as the Nationals beat the San Francisco Giants last night).  Their current series with the San Diego Padres will continue thru Thursday night and will be followed by three games with the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend at Turner Field.
