ATLANTA BRAVES CHRISTEN SUNTRUST PARK WITH SWEEP OF SAN DIEGO PADRES
The Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres 5-4 on Monday night in the finale of a four game series at SunTrust Park, allowing the Braves to christen their new ballpark with a sweep of the Padres. It was the fifth consecutive victory for Atlanta.
Freddie Freeman aided the cause with a pair of home runs; he had four hits and drove in a total of three runs.
Atlanta was ultimately lifted to victory on a walk-off single from Dansby Swanson with two out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.
The Braves will continue their first homestand at SunTrust Park with a three-game set against the Washington Nationals tonight through Thursday night. First pitch of tonight’s series opener is slated for 7:35 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410. Air time is 6:20 pm.
