The Atlanta Braves were off on Monday and will get back into action on their home field at SunTrust Park this evening with the first of three games against the New York Mets. Max Fried will be the starting pitcher for the Braves, and Zack Wheeler will head to the mound for the Mets.  The battle between rivals of the National League East is scheduled for 7:20 pm.  It will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM.  Air time is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

The Braves’ lead in the NL East now stands at six games over the Washington Nationals and eight games over the Mets.  Prior to Monday’s off day, Atlanta wrapped up a seven game road trip with a 2-2 series split in Miami versus the Marlins; it was preceded by a 2-1 series win in interleague play at Minnesota versus the Twins.

Outfielder Ender Inciarte told the media after Sunday’s 5-4 win at Miami that it is good to return to Atlanta in victorious fashion; the Braves bounced back from a tough loss to the Marlins on Saturday.  This ability to bounce back, he adds, says a lot about the character of his team.

Tonight’s outing against the Mets will open a nine-game homestand that will also include three games each against the LA Dodgers and the Marlins.

Atlanta’s 2020 schedule has been released.  The Braves will open next season in Arizona against the Diamondbacks on March 26th.  You can view the entire schedule on the Braves’ website.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves opened up a seven-game road trip with a loss in Asheville, NC to the Tourists 11-6 on Monday night. The teams will meet again tonight at 7:05 pm.
