Written by Matt Davis on May 9, 2017. Posted in Sports

The Atlanta Braves were off on Monday night and will return to action tonight with the opener of a brief two-game interleague series in Houston, Texas against the Astros.  Bartolo Colon will serve as the starting pitcher for the Braves, while (former Brave) Charlie Morton will head to the mound for the Astros.  First pitch is set for 8:10 pm at Minute Maid Park.  The game will be broadcast on WLAQ AM 1410.  Air time for pre-game programming is 6:55 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

Atlanta currently holds an 11-18 record overall and is in last place of the National League East.  Houston leads the American League Central with 21 wins and 11 losses.

In other news from the Atlanta Braves, the team has acquired utility player Danny Santana from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for minor leaguer Kevin Chapman and cash considerations.  Also, the Braves opted on Monday to release former NL MVP Ryan Howard from his minor league contract after he struggled in 11 games with Triple A Gwinnett.

The Rome Braves were edged by the Greensboro Grasshoppers 4-3 in the finale of a four-game set at Greensboro, North Carolina on Monday, allowing the Grasshoppers to sweep the series.  The R Braves are off tonight.
