APRIL IS SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH
The month of April is being observed as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Kim Davis, Executive Director of the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia, says that local Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities will begin on April 12th with a Jeans for Justice walk.
Davis adds that throughout the month, the Clothesline Project will be on display at various locations, including Shorter University, Berry College, the Rome-Floyd County Library and Mount Berry Square Mall. The display features t-shirts designed by sexual assault victims with the intention of telling their stories.
Davis says that every ten and a half minutes, someone is sexually assaulted. The Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia helps victims through advocacy, counseling and support groups.
