A busy week is ahead of the Animal Rescue Foundation of Rome and Floyd County, Inc. (or ARF).

ARF will host a Car and Truck Show at the 22nd annual Trout Unlimited Chili Cook-Off this Saturday, October 14th.  The Car and Truck Show is scheduled for 8 am until 2 pm at Ridgeferry Park with registration to be held from 8 am until 10 am.  Trophies will be awarded for Top 10, Best of Show and People’s Choice.  The entry fee is $20; goody bags will be given to the first 40 entries.  T-shirts will be available at a cost of $5 each.

Money raised from the Car and Truck Show will go towards ARF’s animal welfare efforts in the community, according to co-President Greta Willowby, who says that her group does what they can to save as many animals as they can.  The goal is to get those animals ready for adoption.

The Car and Truck Show will also feature door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.  To register, contact Sue Voils at (706) 233-3543.

Also on ARF’s schedule for this week – Wags, Whiskers and Wine.  The annual fund-raising dinner (formerly known as the Chow Down) will be held on Thursday from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Rome Civic Center.  Catering will be provided by Flavorful Events; there will also be beer and wine.  The event will feature professional tarot reader Libby Gore of In the Hills, musical entertainment from Jason Smith and a silent auction.  Tickets are available in advance for $45 per individual and $75 per couple at Wet Petz, the Backyard Pet Boutique, Rome Cleaners, West Rome Animal Clinic and Sue’s Barber Shop.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $50 each.
