The American League beat the National League 2-1 in 10 innings in this year’s MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday night at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida, home of the Marlins.

The AL was lifted to victory on a solo home run from Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano off Chicago Cubs closer Wade Davis in the 10th.  As such, Cano was named game MVP.

Davis took the loss for the NL.  Former Atlanta Brave Craig Kimbrel, who currently plays for the Boston Red Sox, was the winning pitcher, while the Cleveland Indians’ Andrew Miller was credited with the save for the AL.

Ender Inciarte was the lone player tapped to represent the Atlanta Braves on the National League roster.  He went 0-for-2 in his All Star debut.

Tuesday night’s victory was the fifth straight in the Midsummer Classic for the American League.  It marked the first time in 50 years that the All-Star victor was determined by an extra-inning homer.

Baseball fans – here’s a reminder that you can catch Atlanta Braves baseball all season long on WLAQ AM 1410.  The Braves will open the second half of the 2017 season on Friday night on their home field at SunTrust Park versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves were off on Tuesday night and will open a seven-game road trip tonight with a match against the Lakewood BlueClaws in New Jersey.  First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
