ADAIRSVILLE, SUMMERVILLE AWARDED COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANTS

The city of Adairsville has been awarded a 2016 Community Development Block Grant that will go towards the construction of a new Boys & Girls Clubhouse, according to a release from State Representative Christian Coomer of Cartersville.  The $500,000 grant is courtesy of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, which administers the program on behalf of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The project includes the construction of a new 4,500 square-foot building on a 2.35-acre tract of land.  The total project cost is $967,855 with $467,855 in match and leverage.

Adairsville was one of only 74 Georgia communities awarded a CDBG this year.  The city of Summerville was also awarded a $500,000 grant that will go towards sewer improvements.
