ACTIVITIES PLANNED AROUND THE REGION FOR EARTH DAY

Written by Matt Davis on April 21, 2017. Posted in News/Weather

Saturday is Earth Day.  The observation is being made locally today with the annual Renew Our Rivers clean up from 8 am until 1 pm.  This year’s focus is Armuchee Creek, according to Mary Hardin Thornton with Keep Rome Floyd Beautiful.

Thornton adds that local waterways such as creeks and rivers are important; it is equally important to keep them clean.

The Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville will observe Earth Day on Saturday with an Earth Day Exploration Celebration from 10 am until 4 pm.  Astronomer David Dundee invites the public to attend; check out the museum’s website at www.tellusmuseum.org for details about activities planned for the day.

Earth Day has been celebrated annually since 1970.  Activities are held nationwide to show support of environmental protection.
