AAA: PRICE AT THE GAS PUMP CONTINUES TO RISE

Written by Matt Davis on April 15, 2019. Posted in News/Weather

Georgia’s gas prices are up this week compared to a week ago, reports AAA, The Auto Club Group.  Drivers across the state are now paying an average of $2.68 per gallon for regular unleaded, seven cents more than a week ago and 28 cents more than this time last month.  However, that average is down four cents from this same time last year.

Motorists are now paying an average of $40.20 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline for a discount of $2.40 from when prices were at their highest level last May.

Montrae Watters, spokesperson for AAA, states, “Gas prices may continue to fluctuate over the next few weeks, but will likely follow an upward trend as demand rises and the switchover to summer blend gasoline, which is more costly to produce, becomes more widespread.”

The national average price for regular unleaded was $2.82 on Sunday.  This marks increases of nine cents more than last week, 30 cents more than a week ago and 12 cents more than this time last year.
