AAA: GEORGIA DRIVERS LIKELY TO SEE ANOTHER ROUND OF RISING GAS PRICES THIS WEEK

Written by Matt Davis on March 25, 2019. Posted in Uncategorized

Gas prices in Georgia increased another eight cents last week, setting a new 2019-high of $2.50 per gallon on Sunday, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group.  The state average increased 37 of the past 39 days for a total increase of 36 cents per gallon.

Mark Jenkins, a spokesman for AAA, indicates, “Georgia drivers will likely see another round of rising gas prices this week.”

Jenkins goes on to say, “Both planned and unplanned refinery maintenance, rising demand, and the switch to summer gasoline continue to contribute to the seasonal springtime jump at the pump.  Based on current conditions, gas prices will likely peak sometime between Cinco de Mayo and Memorial Day weekend.”

Sunday’s state average of $2.50 in Georgia is eight cents more than last week, 22 cents more than last month and about the same price as it was at this same time last year.
