Gas prices continue to climb amid an active hurricane season.  Motorists nationwide have seen a significant increase in the price at the pump in recent weeks, particularly motorists in the Southeastern US.

Garrett Townsend, Spokesman for AAA, The Auto Club Group, does not expect gas prices to approach record highs any time soon.  He indicates that the current strain at the pump is temporary and should be relieved as we head deeper into the fall.

Townsend adds that you can keep up with the latest gas prices (and learn ways to save money at the pump) via the AAA mobile app.

The national average price per gallon of regular unleaded is up by about 50 cents from what it was this time last year.  For more information about fuel prices nationwide and across the region, visit www.aaa.com.

Many residents of Rome and Floyd County flooded local gas stations over the weekend in anticipation of Irma’s impact on the area.
