This Sunday will mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the U.S.  Local emergency responders will honor those whose lives were lost in the attacks during the 9/11 Remembrance Service on Friday morning at 8:35 am at the Joint Law Enforcement Center in downtown Rome.  The public is invited to the service.

On September 11th, 2001, four planes were hijacked by terrorists.  Two crashed into the World Trade Center while another hit the Pentagon.  A fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania.

Local churches will ring bells to commemorate when planes hit each tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 am and 8:51 am, respectively.

Members of the Rome Exchange Club will distribute flags to those in attendance at the service, which will also feature a wreath laying ceremony by emergency responders.
